Starting To Prepare
Today marks the 19 day left mark, which means I had better start getting ready.
If you don’t know what I’m talking about, then you haven’t read the post before this. Here’s basically what you missed:
There’s an art challenge that I’m participating in called Inktober, and it’s during October. I have 19 days left to prepare, so each day I’m posting what I’m doing to prepare. Or just read the full article here.
Finding the right pen
I looked through my extensive amount of art supplies today, trying to find something I can use to ink my drawings next month. I tried black markers, ballpoint pens, and more, but eventually I settled on one.
I decided to use the black dual-tipped marker/pen from AQUA by Spectrum Noir. It has a thin side perfect for intricate details, and a brush tip side for the big spaces and the sweeping look of inking. It doesn’t bleed through the paper that I tested it on. I absolutely love this pen. You can buy it here. (This is the set I have. It comes with six markers.)
Practicing drawing every day
Why do you think this post is coming out so late? It’s because before drawing, I have to get everything else done. You best believe I didn’t feel like drawing but I did it. Then I spend quite some time on a drawing a piece. Then I wrote this article, and now I’m really tired.
But this is good. Why? Because drawing every day is important to me, so I learned today that I need to make time for it. I actually ended my day quite calmly tonight, and I’m glad I did it.
I didn’t work from a prompt. I just drew from my head, and had fun with it. It really made my day.
By the way…
I’m going to be speaking at WordCamp Sacramento, so tomorrow I’m flying up there. I hope I see some of you there.
I’m speaking on Pages & Content in the beginner track with Natalie Bourne. We will be covering the pages dashboard, the pages writing page, the toolbar, all that stuff on the right side on the pages writing page, tips, and more.
